The short answer

A good equipment choice starts with your patients, workflow and required functions. Define the requirements first, then request a specific configuration, instruction and quotation.

Start with your practice requirements

Describe the care you already provide and the function you want to add: a new technique, replacement equipment or a system for several locations. Identify its intended users.

Write down three concrete requirements, such as moving between rooms, particular applicators or organising training. This helps assess a demonstration against your practice needs.

Make the clinical question explicit

Identify patient groups and goals. The responsible healthcare professional must assess relevant evidence and instruction. A purchasing plan cannot replace a treatment indication.

Retain the documents supporting the decision, distinguishing manufacturer information, research and organisational considerations.

TopicQuestion to ask
FunctionWhich technology and modes does this exact configuration offer?
ApplicatorsWhich handpieces, heads, electrodes and cables are included?
ControlsCan every intended user explain the necessary steps?
SafetyWhat screening, protection and room setup are required?
DocumentationWhich current instructions and conformity documents will I receive?
MaintenanceWho handles checks, repairs and replacement of wearing parts?
CostsDoes the quotation include accessories, instruction and required consumables?
ServiceWhat happens during downtime, and which arrangements are in writing?

Assess the complete workflow

During a demonstration, follow preparation, application, completion and cleaning. Check accessory storage and how users find information. A screen demonstration alone is insufficient.

Ask what is excluded. An optional trolley or extra handpiece can affect the setup. Include expected running costs in the discussion.

Assign responsibilities

Designate who manages equipment and instructions. Record trained users and where maintenance or incident information is kept. Plan commissioning once equipment, documentation and instruction are complete.

Review whether the system meets the actual practice requirements. This is an organisational review; the clinician separately evaluates each patient’s outcomes.

Prepare your product-advice discussion

Send the required technology, current equipment and three main requirements. State whether the system is for one room or several sites, and include your country. FRAMO is the contact for the Netherlands and Belgium; all other countries should contact Sixtus Italia.

Include transport in your choice

Consider the complete load, internal layout and case fit. The Sixtus Flightcases guide compares configurations and provides a transport checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose a brand or a function first?

Start with function, patient population and workflow. Then compare suitable models and configurations.

What matters in a demonstration?

Work through preparation, operation, completion and cleaning using the accessories you actually need.

What belongs in a quotation?

Exact model, configuration, included parts, price, training, delivery and maintenance and service arrangements.

Is a CE statement sufficient for choosing a treatment?

No. Request current documentation, but also assess suitability and clinical evidence for the intended application.

Can product advice provide a medical diagnosis?

Product advice does not replace medical assessment. Individual diagnosis and treatment decisions belong with the responsible healthcare professional.
